Secondary education
Experience school subjects in a new way at the Jewish Cultural Quarter.

Get to know Judaism
What does it mean to be Jewish today? What happened in the Netherlands during the persecution of the Jews? And what is antisemitism?
In our interactive programmes students explore different aspects of Judaism. Together they reflect on their own views and those of others.
"Ik vond de excursie naar Amsterdam erg leuk en leerzaam! Ik vond de synagoge indrukwekkend. Het Holocaustmuseum vond ik ook erg bijzonder, omdat je je goed kon inbeelden hoe het vroeger was. Het Namenmonument is bij mij het meest blijven hangen. Ik vond het erg bijzonder om alle namen te lezen."

From the 2024/2025 school year through the end of 2026/2027, third-year classes from Amsterdam can join an educational programme at the National Holocaust Museum free of charge. The cost is covered by the Municipality of Amsterdam. Please indicate in your booking if you would like to make use of this offer.
You are welcome to visit the Jewish Cultural Quarter with several classes at the same time. Let us know how many classes you plan to bring, and we will help you create a suitable programme.
At the Jewish Museum including the junior section, the National Holocaust Museum and the Portuguese Synagogue, it is required to leave coats and bags in the cloakroom or lockers. Small bags no larger than A5 may be taken inside.

Students who identify as boys are required to wear a kippah or another type of head covering in the synagogue (a cap is fine too). Kippot are available at the entrance. Students who identify as girls may also choose to wear one, but it is not required.
All our education programmes are also suitable for special education. Please indicate in your booking if you are coming with a special education group, so we can take your needs into account.
