The Jewish Cultural Quarter is located in the heart of the old Jewish neighbourhood. What did this area used to look like? What role did it play in the past? And how does it relate to the rest of Jewish Amsterdam today?
You will find out during this walking tour, which connects key monuments throughout Jewish Amsterdam.

What will you learn?
This tour ties in with citizenship education, history and world orientation, and is tailored to the level of the students.
- You will learn about the history of Jews in Amsterdam.
- You will recognise and understand the stories behind well-known and lesser-known monuments in the former Jewish quarter and the Plantage area.
- You will learn which monuments are dedicated to remembering the persecution of Jewish Amsterdammers during the Second World War.

The tour is available in Dutch or English. It can also be offered in German, French, Spanish or Hebrew, but availability in these languages is limited.
Yes. Please indicate how many classes you are bringing when you make your booking, and we will create a suitable schedule for you. Students will be divided into groups of 15, and each group will have its own guide.
No. A visit to the Jewish Museum, National Holocaust Museum or the Portuguese Synagogue is not included, but it is a valuable addition to this programme.
If you would like to add a museum visit, please mention this in your booking. We will create a suitable schedule for your group. Please note that the cost of a museum visit is not included in the price of this programme.
Preparation is not required.

Planning a school visit? Here is some practical information to help your visit run smoothly.
You will be walking through the centre of Amsterdam for an hour. Wear comfortable shoes to avoid sore feet.
