Is There Still a Future for Me Here?

Performance
December 4

Since 7 October 2023, members of both Jews and Muslims communities in the Netherlands have experienced feelings of fear, anger, and the longing for a place where they can be themselves. For some, this leads to a painful question: ‘Is there still a future for me here in the Netherlands?’ Despite these shared feelings, the two groups are often pitted against each other politically, or find themselves set against each other due to strong ties to either Israel or Palestine.

Theatre maker Tamar van der Ven wrote the play Is There Still a Future for Me Here? based on in-depth interviews with people from both communities. In this theatrical and musical program, we hear stories of exclusion and not feeling at home in one’s own city or country. Who stays, who leaves, and where do they see a future for themselves?

After the performance, there will be a discussion with psychologists and the audience.
