100th anniversary of Houdini's death

On October 31, it will be exactly one hundred years ago that Harry Houdini died. Reason enough to bring the legendary escape artist and illusionist back to life this afternoon. In the Jewish Museum, the afternoon is all about Houdini.

We screen Houdini, the classic Hollywood film from 1953, in which Tony Curtis plays the famous illusionist, alongside Janet Leigh as his wife and assistant Bess. The film tells the life story of Houdini with the necessary Hollywood freedom: exciting, romantic and full of spectacular escapes.

The curator of the exhibition *Abracadabra: Secrets from Houdini to Hans Klok* conducts guided tours that highlight both the history of famous Jewish magicians from the Netherlands and abroad and the creation of the exhibition itself.

Throughout the afternoon, unexpected moments of magic appear. Because where Houdini is commemorated, a little wonder should of course not be missing. So keep your eyes open, and above all, don't trust everything you see.
