A year since 7 October
It’s been a year since 7 October. The war in Gaza and Israel continues unabated and the fate of over a hundred hostages still hangs in the balance. War has also erupted between Israel and Hezbollah, and the armed conflict between Israel and Iran is escalating. Violence is also increasing in the West Bank.
We are deeply concerned by the continuing fighting, the growing number of casualties and the disruption to so many lives. We want to see a resolution of the present conflict that brings justice and security for all those involved and hope for an end to all the violence, the release of the hostages and access for humanitarian aid to all those who need it.
Here in the Netherlands, we feel the impact of the war every day. We find the way it is dividing society profoundly disturbing and we worry about the detrimental consequences. Part of the mission of the Jewish Cultural Quarter is to help build a just society here in the Netherlands. Our new programme, Zionism - Promise or Pitfall?, offers people an opportunity to air their various perspectives. We invite people to come and talk, to exchange views without necessarily trying to persuade each other. We launched this programme because we profoundly believe that engagement doesn't have to be one-sided, and that we need to work together if we’re to create a meaningful future.
Come and see, listen and join the conversation. We are open to everyone.
