Candlelight Concert: Sacha van Ravenswade & Jeroen Sarphati

Live Hannukah concert among hundreds of burning candles
Location: Portuguese Synagogue
Time: 7.30pm - 8.30pm (doors open at 7.00pm)
On the seventh evening of Hannukah, Sacha van Ravenswade will perform at the Portuguese Synagogue, as he has done in previous years. Van Ravenswade specializes in both synagogue music and opera, which is why tonight’s program brings the two together. He will be accompanied on piano by Jeroen Sarphati.
Sacha van Ravenswade is a tenor, specializing in Jewish liturgical music, also known as chazzanut. This began at a young age, in the synagogue, and from the age of fifteen he officially started serving as a cantor (chazzan). Later, he developed a passion for classical music, particularly opera, which is why tonight’s program is a combination of both.
Van Ravenswade will be accompanied on piano by Jeroen Sarphati. He studied at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and he, too, has a particular affinity for opera: he has adapted and translated operas by composers including Rimsky-Korsakov, Humperdinck, and Bizet. In addition, he is a choir conductor and music programmer.
Admission: € 22,00
