Candlelight Concert: Job Chajes Sextet

June 17

Hundreds of candles and the wonderful acoustics in the Portuguese Synagogue set the stage for unique evening concerts. In his own sextet, saxophone player Job Chajes – founder of the Amsterdam Klezmer Band – shows a surprisingly different side of himself.

For more than 27 years, Job Chajes has been exploring all forms of klezmer with the Amsterdam Klezmer Band, on countless stages and festivals. Last year saw the release of Do Something Now, the first album from his solo project. Thanks to the contributions of five exceptional musicians, Chajes was able to fully express his own musical self, with a combination of jazz, classical and world music. What remains is his unmistakable musical adventurousness and joy.

Job Chajes – alt- en baritonsaxofoon, contra-altklarinet
Emma Breedveld – viool
Saskia Meijs – altviool
