Candlelight Concert: Amsterdam Klezmer Band
Live concert among hundreds of burning candles
Location: Portuguese Synagogue
Time: 7.30pm - 8.30pm (doors open at 7.00pm)
As part of the exhibition "Mokum: Biography of Jewish Amsterdam" (on display at De Nieuwe Kerk until April 6th), the Amsterdam Klezmer Band will perform a unique concert at the Portuguese Synagogue. Over the past thirty years, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band has studied, inverted, explored, and reinvented klezmer music.
On March 19th, the Amsterdam Klezmer Band proudly presents its new album, Diaspora, at the Portuguese Synagogue. The album, which will be released worldwide on March 20th, was recorded in a single day in November 2025, shortly after a theater tour of the same name in the Netherlands. Diaspora's repertoire consists of traditional klezmer, as it sounded 100 years ago in the shtetls of Eastern Europe. The band complements this with its own unique approach, presenting powerful new klezmer music in Amsterdam in 2026.

Janfie Van Strien - clarinet
Job Chajes - alto saxophone
Joop Van Der Linden - trombone
