Ets Haim means Tree of Life. This is the oldest active Jewish library in the world. The library’s special heritage has national and international recognition. The collection of Ets Haim was added to the list of the Act for the Preservation of Cultural Property of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science in July 1998. Since 2003 the collection of the library Ets Haim – Livraria Montezinos is part of the UNESCO Memory of the World programme.
