Statement following the anti-Semitic violence in Amsterdam

The images of aggressive groups of masked men “Jew hunting” in the centre of Amsterdam, while physically threatening and assaulting random Israeli football supporters, will be remembered with disgust for a long time to come. It is a violent escalation of antisemitic thinking that has unfortunately started to become increasingly “normal” in the Netherlands. But, antisemitism is never normal. We call on everyone to support the Jewish community in these difficult times and stand firm for everyone’s right to freedom and respect.

Our museums offer safety, comfort and insight, especially in these times and are open to everybody.
