About the architect

The renovation of the National Holocaust Museum (under establishment) and the Hollandsche Schouwburg on Amsterdam’s Plantage Middenlaan will be carried out by the firm of architects Office Winhov. The work will commence in February 2020, with the aim of realising the new museum by early 2024.

Office Winhov has experience of large-scale projects of great significance, including rebuilding the Amstel railway station, the transformation of the former Vroom & Dreesman department store and the renovation of Leiden’s city hall.

Winhov were chosen for their ability to deal sensitively with the history associated with this place.

Winhov’s team will be busy finalising the designs until the museum temporarily closes its doors in February.
