Lecture Etty & Leonie by Bernard Penney

Friday 14 October 2022, 14.00 - 15.00

As part of the Etty & Leonie presentation, Bernard Penney will give a lecture about the friendship between Leonie Snatager and Etty Hillesum. Bernard Penney is the son of Leonie Snatager, who died in 2013. Snatager was a good friend of writer Etty Hillesum, who became world famous posthumously through the publication of her diaries, ‘An Interrupted Life’. Leonie Snatager survived the war and emigrated to the United States. She has kept an archive of biographical material, letters and documents related to Etty Hillesum. Especially on the occasion of the Etty & Leonie exhibition, Bernard Penney comes over from the US to share his story with us.
