My Israel | My Palestine

June 30

On Sunday evening, 30 June, three generations of Jews and Palestinians in the Netherlands will talk to Joris Luyendijk about the land with which they feel inseparably connected. The evening will focus on personal perspectives. Afterwards there will be food and drink and the opportunity to continue the conversation.

Preceding these personal narratives, Joris Luyendijk will interview Bart Wallet, professor of Jewish Studies at the University of Amsterdam. What is his experience lecturing on Zionism to assorted groups of students?

My Israel | My Palestine is part of our Zionism – Promise or Pitfall? programme in which we explore Zionism from a personal and historical perspective.

Joris Luyendijk studied politics, history, Arabic and religious anthropology in Amsterdam, Kansas and Cairo. From 1998 to 2003, he was Volkskrant and Radio 1 correspondent in Cairo, Beirut and East Jerusalem, working later also for NRC Handelsblad and NOS. In 2006, Luyendijk published People Like Us in which he describes his experience as a correspondent in the Arab world.

Admission: € 10.00, including food
